Triumph has updated its Bonneville's lineup this year and made it even better. The Bonneville Speedmaster is such a beautiful machine. Despite having some electronics it still packs loads of that Bonnie character to it!
The Speedmaster's gorgeous classic looks are such an eye turner!
The cruiser from Triumph hugs you just in the right places. Starting from the seat, padded all around, providing superior comfort. All the way to the controls set-up.
The beach bars are the pulled-back kind enhancing the classic laid back style of a proper cruiser. The foot controls are forward-mids and they offer great comfort without sacrificing handling. I was surprised actually by how easy it was to handle (especially on tight turns) with this set-up.
The iconic classic is not just a boring cruiser though. The revised engine (now Euro5) for 2021 has gained 1 horsepower, at exactly 77 and makes 106 nm of torque.
Along with that comes an iconic throaty roar - straight from the stock pipes.
The distinctive sound of the Bonneville Speedmaster brought me back in time!
I'm not one to ride a retro bike hard, but I made an exception and I'm glad I did. Because not only the Speedmaster is quick to respond but it's smooth and also exciting. The low to mid range pull was phenomenal. Handling is also improved this year thanks to the new 47mm front forks adding that bit that was missing from the previous generation.
Short travel suspension though means the Speedmaster didn't like bigger bumps. So I found myself hopping on and off the seat a couple of times.
But there's such a smooth feeling coming from the bike even when going down into a bend. You don't really feel the heavy weight of over 260 kg on the go, but you definitely know it's there if you try man-handling it about.
Brakes are also improved, there's Brembo calipers now and they work very well. Great stopping power is exactly what you need to stop a heavier bike like the Speedmaster.
The beauty of the Bonneville Speedmaster is in the detail!
Triumph has done a great job with the Speedmaster. I had a great time on the saddle, so if you're looking for a stylish cruiser but you don't want to sacrifice performance I recommend you come check this bike out at Bolton Motorcycles. Now for sale at only £10,899!
